Public Reporting Manager – NYC / Southwest Fairfield County, CT

Overall Description:

The primary role for the Manager of Public Reporting will be to continue to build and automate the public reporting function.  Making the public reporting function highly automated, where the presentation of information complete and accurate, as well as, elegant and useful. Another important role will be the review of the financial statements published in our periodic reports for completeness, accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulation S-X. In addition, this person will be responsible for ensuring continued compliance with SEC regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley, and for completing ad-hoc projects.  This position will require a highly organized and naturally curious self-starter with strong analytical skills who enjoys daily challenges and is persistent as well as resourceful in getting to the right answer.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of all SEC filings including periodic reports on Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, as well as, Section 16 filings on Forms 3, 4 and 5.
  • Review S-X financial statements published on our periodic filings.
  • Support the preparation of the quarterly earnings release.
  • Maintain and track compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley procedures.
  • Ad-hoc projects and analysis.
  • Doing whatever needs to be done to move a dynamic, fast growing business forward.

Background and Qualifications:

  • CPA with 5-6 years experience in public reporting (Not Required).
  • Prior experience in securities/commodities industry is a plus, but our focus is on public reporting expertise.
  • Strong analytical skills, “can-do” attitude, discipline and organization.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financials.
  • Proficiency with computers: spreadsheet programs, database applications, accounting system report writers, etc. General understanding of automated, database driven systems.
  • Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements.
  • Proficiency in managing the general accounting process.

Director of Tax (Hartford, CT)

Overview:

The Director of Tax Planning is an experienced tax professional who works closely with the Vice President of Tax and Director of Tax Reporting to identify and execute a wide variety of tax planning projects.

 Responsibilities:

  •  Identify, coordinate, and execute a wide variety of tax planning projects.
  • Properly document and defend tax planning projects on audit.
  • Conduct, assist and / or supervise the tax due diligence for significant transactions.
  • Review tax processes and identify and implement improvements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of all North American transfer pricing studies.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of all tax compliance and tax provisions for Canada and Puerto Rico.
  • Research and provide tax advice on tax matters as necessary.
  • Monitor and communicate changes and developments in tax and regulatory laws as necessary.
  • Train, mentor and develop members of the Tax Department.

 Qualifications:

  • BS / BA in Accounting (CPA and / or Masters in Tax preferred)

Senior Accountant – NYC / Southwest Fairfield County, CT

Overall Description:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting in the daily reporting, review and analysis of our North American proprietary trading operations and Asian brokerage operations. This includes trading profit & loss variance review, cash reconciliation review, fee analysis and recording, review of foreign currency trading activity, preparation and approval of daily intercompany transactions, stock borrow and loan analysis, accounts payable disbursement review. Monthly responsibilities include preparation and analysis of trading profit & loss, recording and reconciling trading dividends, assisting accounting manager with review of cash reconciliations and fixed assets, preparation of intercompany schedules for the Group, processing intercompany accruals for the Group, performing accounts payable review and transfer to general ledger, expense accrual analysis and recording, reconciling and recording compensation and related benefits, and assisting with general monthly closing processes. Additional responsibilities will include processing intercompany paydowns, pre-consolidation balance review, generating reports for monthly financial reporting package, weekly analysis of US securities valuations (variance reporting), ad hoc projects, documenting procedures, and assisting in interim, exchange and year-end audits. Accounting functions are performed in the Group’s headquarters.

Qualified candidates will have in-depth knowledge of:

  • U.S. GAAP Financial Accounting and Reporting
  • P&L and Balance Sheet Accounting and Reporting
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Bank Reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Fixed Asset Accounting, Prepaid Expenses and Other Receivables/Payables

Qualifications:

  • 3 plus years of experience in a Senior Accounting role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (Audit/Assurance), a plus

Other Specific Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in the operation and use of automated accounting systems. Recent experience with Oracle Financials (ver. 11.5.9), a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, including complex/compound spreadsheets.
  • Advanced problem solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently within a team environment
  • Knowledge of international financial markets, securities and F/X trading, a plus
  • Experience in intercompany processing and reporting, a plus
